Entry #1. Escaping Into Goodnight Punpun

Hello, my name is Angel Valenzuela, and one of my hobbies is reading manga. I read a lot of manga whenever I have free time to myself. It's one of the ways to keep me reading. Since I was given the choice to read, my pick was manga, funny enough. I remember picking up Dragon Ball Z and instantly fell in love with it. Also, a big part of my childhood has shaped me into who I am today. Since I read Dragon Ball Z, I have gone deeper and deeper into the world of Manga. However, there has been one that has always stuck with me. That manga, Goodnight Punpun.

I must admit, Goodnight Punpun can be really emotionally overwhelming at times. As someone who is usually able to keep their emotions in check, I'm surprised that a manga, which I usually read for entertainment, could make me cry so much that I had to pause reading. The story is so relatable, and I found myself identifying with the main character, Punpun, to the point where it felt like I was reading my own life story. Goodnight Punpun is a manga that sometimes makes you laugh, cry, and even disgusted. I highly recommend trying it, especially if you want to get into manga. Personally, I'm glad that I read it.

In all, I really enjoy reading manga as a hobby. It has influenced me and shaped the person that I am today. It's amazing how this hobby has broadened my perspective on literature from different authors. I never realized how much a hobby could help me gain such valuable insights.

  1. I have always been told that I would enjoy manga and anime. For some reason, I’ve never been able to get into it, even though I like to think of myself as open minded, and willing to give anything a try. After reading this post, you have absolutely convinced me to give this one a try. I’m not big into action or violence at all, and I don’t mind crying a bit while I read. The artwork you've shared along with this post is beautiful and a bit chilling. It already has me interested.

  2. Caught my interest, never been manga individual. My siblings were into it I think at one of my jobs I watched “Poyo” because one of the kids was into it. I found the movie entertaining maybe because at work that’s when every TV or movie is interesting. Working at a hospital once I got into black and white movies when normally I wouldn’t watch that type of movie. However, I’m tempted to read the manga you recommended just out of curiosity.

  3. Interesting read, I've heard of Dragon Ball Z growing up, but was never invested in it. This manga subject is a brand new term to me. Your artwork and the way you describe how attached you are to the main character really pulled me into your story. The way you describe the emotional aspect of Goodnight Punpun has me curious to do some research. and maybe give it a read. Although I have to admit, it seems a bit intimidating. But it has definitely caught my interest.

  4. Love the images you've included here to provide visual support for this post. Your passion and interest in this topic are clear. You've given readers a bit of insight into why Goodnight Punpun is significant to you, but a bit more development (without any spoilers, of coures) would help engage readers further with a topic that might be unfamiliar to them.
